Mornova: An Adaptive Morning Companion

AI-powered wake-up companion that combines a web assistant with a light-based physical device.

Role: Product Designer & Product Manager

Duration: 2 semesters

Focus: Product strategy, UX, conversational design, hardware–software integration

Why I Built Mornova

Mornova started with a simple question I kept asking myself during grad school:

Why do we still wake up to alarms that ignore everything happening in our lives?

Some days I’d have a 9 AM meeting and wake up panicked.
Other days I’d stay up late finishing work and still get jolted awake by a rigid alarm.
Nothing adjusted.
Nothing understood my schedule.
And nothing reduced that “morning anxiety” feeling.
Mornova became my attempt to redesign the morning experience from the ground up, combining AI reasoning, context awareness, and physical light cues into one gentle system.

A Fully Functional Prototype

To make the experience real and testable, I built a working web app prototype.
You can explore it directly inside the mobile mockup on my page: the assistant responds, pulls your calendar and weather data, and proposes wake-up routines based on context. This wasn’t just UI exploration; it was grounding the concept in actual behavior.

The phone screen below is a live prototype,
tap, scroll, and change settings to see how Mornova responds!

Documenting the System Behind the Scenes

I also wrote full technical + experience documentation, which you can scroll through right on the page via Notion.
This documentation includes:
- Conversation flows
- Sensor integration details
- Light behavior logic
- System architecture
- Future product roadmap
